siolla
is a simple syllable counting program for Irish Gaelic.
You give it a word and it returns the number of syllables it thinks
are in it. The number of syllables is needed to correctly
determine the conjugation of a verb, declension of an adjective, etc.
In addition to the number of syllables, siolla
returns
a very simple minded listing of how the syllables occur in the word.
This grouping doesn't always work, and fails all the time for
compound words.
Also, epenthetic
vowels are not shown in the grouping, though they are counted correctly
in the total. (Since only the number of syllables, not the correct
division, is needed for the correct determination of inflections, I
don't anticipate fixing this display any time soon.)
